Dear Pool Supporter,                                                                              October 2024

 

As 2024 winds down, we wanted to give you an update on your community pool.  We have lots of good news to share, so please review the Fall Update sheet enclosed.

 

2024 Highlights:

​

• Hired Megan Smithburg as the new head coach for the Stingray Swim Team. Megan launched the team in mid-October.

• Teaching children how to be safe around pools and lakes is one of our top priorities. Over the last 12 months, 468 students took swim lessons and/or water safety classes from the school districts of Charlevoix, Boyne City, Boyne Falls, and Ellsworth.

• Increased pool programs to help Seniors with mobility and stability by providing an indoor, non-weight-bearing place to exercise. Program attendance was up this past year. A new and improved pool wheelchair was added for easy pool access down our ramp.

• Sunday hours were added to the pool from January to May 2024. Children especially enjoy indoor exercise and fun during the “Open Swim” times when the pool toys are available.

 

Can we count on your support to help fund your community pool in 2025?

In 2023, approximately 36% of our operational funds came from donations, grants, and fundraisers while another 17% of our revenue came from user fees. Municipal tax revenues fill in the remaining part of our operational funding. As a community resource for everyone – all ages, all backgrounds, all income levels – we can keep visit fees low with community support and tax revenues.
